Your questions, answered plainly

Don't see yours? Call or text. Nobody pays to ask.

Before you call

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Ydalia works in Spanish and English in every meeting, and every form is explained in the language you read best.

What does the first call cost?

The first call is for listening and for deciding whether I can help. If a longer meeting is worth it, I'll tell you its fee before we book.

Can I send my papers by text or WhatsApp?

A photo of a letter is fine for a first look. For anything private, like your story or your A-number, we'll use a safer way that I'll explain.

Your situation

Will I be reported to immigration if I come in?

No. What you tell me stays between us. A lawyer can't share it, and coming in for advice doesn't put your name on any list.

I have a court date. Can you still help?

Often yes, but the sooner the better. Bring the notice and call right away, because some deadlines are short.

Someone told me I can pay for a green card. Is that true?

No. No one can sell you a green card or a place in line. If a person promises one, walk away and call me.

Working together

Can you take my case if I live outside the Bronx?

Often yes. Meetings can be by phone or video, and many filings are done online. I'll tell you if an in-person visit is needed.

What if I can't afford your fee all at once?

Tell me on the first call. We'll talk about what's possible, and I'll write down whatever we agree on.

What happens if my case is denied?

Some denials can be appealed or filed again, and others lead to a different option. I read the decision with you and explain what each choice would involve.

Signs of immigration fraud

Scams aimed at immigrants are common, and they often start with a friendly face. Be careful if someone:

  • promises you a green card, a work permit or a date for money,
  • isn't a lawyer, or won't show you proof that they are,
  • keeps your original documents or your passport,
  • asks you to sign a form with blank spaces, or to say something untrue,
  • won't give you a copy of what was filed.

If this has already happened to you, call me. It's not too late to fix many of these problems, and you're not in trouble for asking.
